Tresco, 2014, oil on cardboard, 15x15cm, private collection

Tresco is one of the Isles of Scilly, which are situated 20 miles off the Cornish coast. The scene in the painting is from the film Archipelago (Joanna Hogg, 2010). The film is about a middle class family holidaying on Tresco and has a cool, disconnected atmosphere. The family is very dysfunctional and it becomes evident that the holiday has failed in its attempt to bring them together.
